Submitted by Dessi on Thu, 02/06/2020 - 13:10 In the period 29-31 January 2020, a training organized by the "Council of Refugee Women in Bulgaria" took place in Sofia within the framework of the "SAVE - Speak out against violence" Phase III project, funded by UNICEF Bulgaria. The main topic of the training covered the types of violence - sexual and gender based. Leading the training were international speakers - Sarah Martin, expert from the Refugee Women Commission and Georgia Rocca, coordinator of the Cultural Mediation Service at the SAMIFO Medical Center in Rome. The training was attended by translators and cultural mediators working with refugees and migrants from the CRWB, SAR, BRC, UNHCR, Caritas Sofia and Mission Wings Foundation. Participants in the training enriched their knowledge of basic definitions, guiding principles, the dual role of translator and cultural mediator, coping with stress and the notion of vicarious trauma. The three-day training enabled colleagues from partner organizations to exchange experience and practical advice.
